Is reading harder than it should be?

The report card says "Making Progress." The school says "let’s wait and see." Your gut says they are working too hard just to keep up.

The yellow diagnosis

Top signs of the “Silent Struggle”

The energy drop

They start reading okay, but after a few minutes, they get tired, yawn, or start wiggling. Their "reading stamina" is low.

Two line art icons of a person with a question mark and another person representing a young reader guessing at words rather than knowing the code

The guesser

They look at the first letter of a word and guess the rest, or rely on pictures to figure out the story.

Robot mode

They can read the words, but it sounds choppy or flat—like they are reading a grocery list, not a story.

Avoidance

They don't fight you, but they never choose to read. They will gladly build Legos or draw for hours, but books stay closed.

If this sounds familiar, your child isn’t “lazy.” They are likely in cognitive overload. They are using all their brain power just to decode, leaving zero energy to enjoy the story.

THERE ARE GAPS IN THEIR WIRING

Glowing yellow bridge icon for the Bridge reading track, symbolizing closing the gaps and building reading fluency for wobbling students.

From Sounding Out to Automatically Knowing

In the early grades, school focuses on just getting the word right. But the real goal is automaticity—getting the word instantly.

We bridge that gap. With Lexia, they’ll learn and practice the code until it becomes second nature. When the decoding becomes automatic, the reading becomes fun.

Fill decoding gaps

We close the gaps and build a deep, strong phonics foundation. Their sight word recognition leaps forward.

Build automaticity

Reading becomes smooth, not ‘sticky.‘ They start following the story better and actually enjoying reading.

Build confidence

The hesitancy dissipates and they start to enjoy reading aloud to show off their skills.

Automaticity

Fast effortless reading that frees the brain for comprehension and critical thinking. A child who devours books with ease.

How we take them from wobbling to surging

Enroll your child

Let's get this going! We’ll have you up and running in a few days.

Enrollment FAQs

How fast can we get started? What does it look like?

Immediately after you enroll, you’ll receive a welcome email with a short intake form. We’ll process that and then send you a link to book your personal onboarding session.

How easy is it to cancel?

We don't believe in holding parents hostage. There is a "Cancel Subscription" button right in your parent dashboard. One click, no phone calls, no guilt trips.

Can we pause for vacations, etc.?

Yes, you can skip a month anytime, or hit pause for multiple months, with just a click in your parent dashboard. We keep your child's data profile data so you can restart exactly where you left off.

What happens if my child gets stuck?

We don't do “wait and see” and let your child lose momentum. If we see signs of frustration with a specific concept (like 'silent e' or 'vowel teams') that the software scaffolding isn't fixing, we will recommend a quick Radical Boost to address exactly that issue and get them unstuck and going again.

Can we change plans?

Yes, you can switch your plan anytime as your child's reading journey evolves. Further, we will make recommendations according to your child's needs. It's our job to make sure the program is working optimally for your child. Our goal is to make things easy for parents.

We bring the clinic to your living room

How it works

No driving to tutoring centers, no fighting over worksheets. You supply the device. We supply the results.

The Clinical Tool

Lexia® Core5®: The leading tool for teachers, now in your living room

Originally developed through Johns Hopkins and Boston Children's Hospital, Lexia Core5 has been at the forefront of the science of reading for decades.

It adapts to each child with a personalized learning path — building one small skill after another with no gaps and no parental hand-holding required.

There is no more powerful or proven reading tool in existence. Usually kept behind school district walls. Radical Reading brings it to your living room.

The Expert Oversight

If Lexia is the rocketship,
Radical is your pilot

Lexia is not a reading app. It's a professional clinical tool designed to be guided by teachers and supervised by experts. We are those experts.

While your child is building skills, Lexia is gathering data — and we're watching their momentum, ready to step in with the guidance, motivation, and precision they need to keep it up.

While teachers manage a crowded room, your child's Lexia success is our only focus.

The science behind the tool

Lexia Core5 helped 3.7 million kids last year

Developed and refined over decades, extensively researched and proven. Here's what makes it so powerful for every young reader.

Personalized adaptive learning

Lexia responds to your child in real time. If they master a concept, it accelerates them instantly. If they wobble, it branches into a structured instruction sub-path. No time wasted on what they know. No gap left where they wobbled.

Illustration of a brain secured with a locked padlock, symbolizing how clinical precision is used to build true reading mastery.

Comprehensive skill mastery

Systematically builds skills across all six pillars of reading: Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Structural Analysis, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension. Every small skill is fully developed before moving on. No gaps equals mastery.

Continuous assessment

Lexia's Assessment Without Testing® tracks progress in real time so no child falls behind. It also acts as a predictive screener — flagging potential reading challenges years before the school system would.

Not all screen time is equal

Lexia is digital nutrition, not digital candy

We all worry about screen time. Most screen time sedates. Lexia builds. It feels like a game — but their brain is focused and being systematically wired for reading mastery. Fifteen minutes a day, then back to being an analog kid.

impressive results

In one 2023 study of K-3 students in Utah, kids working in or above grade level went from 46% at the start of the school year to 90% by the middle of the school year.

The program is Lexia.
The breakthrough is Radical.

Lexia Core5 is a powerful tool — but it requires rigorous professional oversight to deliver consistant results.

LEXIA TIME

Digital nutrition, not digital candy

Most screen time is brain-rotting digital candy; Lexia is brain-building digital nutrition that wires the brain for focus, not distraction. It feels like a game to them, but beneath the surface, it is a rigorous neuro-engineering tool systematically wiring their brain for focus, decoding, and automaticity. It’s screen time that actually builds neural density instead of eroding it.

FITS WITH BUSY FAMILY LIFE

Easy micro-doses, zero parent pressure

Science shows that short, intense bursts of practice build pathways faster than hour-long slogs at the kitchen table. We ask for just 15 to 20 minutes, 4-5 days a week. Before dinner, in pajamas, wherever and whenever. And the best part? You are not the teacher. You don't have to hover, correct, or fight over phonics. You hand them the device, and let Lexia and Radical Reading do the work while you relax.

Radical guidance

Expert clinical oversight ensures success

You aren't just buying software; you are hiring a clinical team to lead the process. From assessment and monitoring, to motivation and rewards, the Radical system is designed to support your child's success. While they build skills, we monitor their data. If they hit a roadblock, we don't wait and see. We step in with a 1:1 Precision Lesson to spot-fix the exact "loose wire" to keep their momentum surging. This is the Radical Safety Net.

The Radical difference

Expert oversight

We review data for every child, every week. We see the wobbles the moment they happen and act before they become gaps.

Precision intervention

When the data flags a stuck point, we deliver a targeted 1:1 Radical Boost to spot-weld the exact weak connection and restore momentum.

Data accountability

School report cards are vague. Our monthly reports are granular. You'll know exactly what your child has mastered — and what comes next.

Way more for way less

Private tutoring costs $80/hr or more — for general help with no data behind it. Our system delivers rigorous daily learning starting at $149 a month.

The old way

General weekly tutoring

You drive to a tutor every Tuesday. Pay $80/hr whether your child needs it or not. She picks up where she left off last week — general, expensive, and impossible to measure. Is he making progress? You think so.

The Radical Way

Targeted boosts, as they need them

Lexia works every day, adapting to your child in real time. And we're watching closely, because kids on the core program will need Radical Boosts fairly frequently. You see a data-driven progress report every month.

Radical fidelity, radical results

In education, fidelity is the ability to deliver a program the way it was intended. I founded Radical Reading to give parents a way to bypass the uneven results of the school system. We took the leading clinical-grade tool and designed a home-based system for fidelity and success. We don't hope for progress; we engineer it. That’s Radical.

BRIDGE Track FAQs

They aren't failing, but reading just seems a lot for them. Is that normal? Are some kids just not cut out to be good readers?

It’s all too common, and it’s a warning sign and wake up call. Know this first: almost every child will become a fluent reader with proper instruction and practice. You child's struggles are almost certainly due to dysteachia — not receiving the individualized instruction they need for their unique brain. This is extremely common, and why we created Radical Reading.

Their reading seems OK, I'm tempted to just “wait and see” before committing time and money.

We understand that instinct—it’s the hope that a child just needs to "click" or mature. However, in the Science of Reading, "Wait and See" often turns into "Wait to Fail." Here is why we advocate for "Act and Empower" instead:

  • The Gap Widens Geometrically: Reading isn’t a linear skill; it’s exponential. If a student has foundational "wobbles" in Grade 1, those gaps don't stay small. By Grade 4, when the curriculum shifts from learning to read to reading to learn, those tiny gaps become a chasm that affects every subject, from History to Math.
  • The Confidence Factor: Kids are smart. Long before their grades reflect a struggle, they feel it. They notice when their peers are finishing books while they are still decoding the first page. Early intervention protects their self-esteem before "I can’t do this" becomes their internal mantra.
  • Data vs. Guesswork: "OK" is subjective. Lexia's continuous assessments provide a constant stream of objective data. If your child is truly on track, our data will give you peace of mind. If they aren’t, we’ve caught it early enough to fix it with a "Boost" rather than years of intensive therapy later.
  • Brain Plasticity: It is scientifically easier (and significantly more cost-effective) to build the right neural pathways now than it is to "rewire" ingrained, inefficient reading habits two or three years down the road.

Our Advice: Don't wait for a struggle to become a crisis. Let’s get the data now so you can make an informed decision—even if that decision is that they’re doing just fine.

Reading seems to be exhausting for my child. Will this help?

Absolutely. If they are tired, they are processing inefficiently. We fix the wiring so reading moves from exhausting to automatic.

They have hockey/dance/piano. How does this fit?"

This is the most efficient 20 minutes of their day. Unlike piano practice, they don't need you to supervise. It fits in the car ride or the gap before dinner. It’s high-yield digital nutrition.

My kid is already on screens too much. Won’t this make the screen problem worse?

Not all screens are created equal. YouTube is "digital candy"; Lexia is digital nutrition. We use the iPad (or laptop) as a clinical delivery device to wire their brain, not to sedate it. It is 20 minutes of high-focus neuro-engineering, capped daily so they can get back to being an analog kid.

I am exhausted. Do I have to sit next to them and help them?

Absolutely not. We fire you as the teacher so you can be the parent again. Your job is to be the "Cheerleader," not the "enforcer." The software adapts in real-time to their brain, and our team watches the data. You just high-five them when they finish.

Will this confuse what their teacher is doing in class?

No. Reading is a universal code. We are building the engine; the school is providing the fuel. A better engine makes school easier, not harder. We don't replace school; we engineer the foundation that school is built on. And keep in mind, Lexia is designed to integrate into the school cirriculum.

Why not just license Lexia myself?

Only Ed organizations can license Lexia directly. You aren't buying an app; you are hiring a clinical team and the use of gold-standard educational software usually reserved for districts. And with a child on our Bridge track, expert professional oversight and support is critical. Plus, it’s way cheaper than traditional tutoring, and way more effective and accountable with comprehensive data.

Should we take a break over the holidays?

Consistency is key to neuroplasticity. Because lessons are only 15-20 minutes, you can do this in the car or before breakfast. Most families find it fits in quite well on most vacations. You don't need a break from something that is quick fun they can do from anywhere.
